Company History:
A.T. Quisenberry, Milton Phillips' grandfather-in-law, started his agency in 1910 in Springfield, and Milton joined this agency in 1951. In 1960, however, Milton Phillips and Paul Barker left the agency to form Barker-Phillips, and by 1975, Barker-Phillips purchased the E.W. Phillips Agency.
January 1, 1986, Barker-Phillips Insurers and Consolidated Jackson Corporation merged to form Barker Phillips Jackson, Inc. -- the largest independent broker in southern Missouri.
January 1, 1987, Barker Phillips Jackson, Inc. became an employee-owned company through the implementation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. 100% of the shares of Barker Phillips Jackson are owned by the Barker Phillips Jackson, Inc. Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
February 1, 1989, three agencies in the east central part of Missouri merged and were also simultaneously acquired by Barker Phillips Jackson, Inc. The agencies were The Wisdom Insurance Agency, The Golden Rule Agency of Rolla, and Wisdom, Your Insurance Man of St. Robert.
December of 1990, a separate corporation, Barker Phillips Jackson Financial Corporation, was formed for the purpose of selling life, health, and associated financial products through banking institutions.
January of 1991, Naught and Naught Insurance of Rolla merged into the already existing Rolla branch.
December 31, 2002, Richard Jackson retired from Barker Phillips Jackson.
January 1, 2003, Tom Montileone joined the company as President and Chief Operating Officer, and two years later, he became the President and CEO.
April 1, 2005, Group Benefits, a long standing Insurance Agency located in Springfield, Missouri and owned by Dallis Higginbotham, merged with Barker Phillips Jackson.
September, 2008 – BPJ moves from it’s long-time home on E Sunshine to a new location at 1637 S Enterprise
